It thus plays less of a role from which pier you leave or arrive at when you are going back to the mainland. The trip to Koh Samet with the ferry takes between 30-45 minutes. Bus between Bangkok and Koh SametBus between Bangkok and Koh Samet From Bangkok is the cheapest and perhaps the most convenient way to get to Koh Samet by the "air-conditioned public bus" (state AC bus). Buses depart every two hours from the Eastern Bus Terminal, better known as Ekamai Bus Station. The fee is about 200 Baht per person and the bus journey takes about 3 hours. When you get to the mainland in Rayong, inside the Koh Samet as the buses stop just on the opposite side of the road where the two piers is located. Piers called Ban Phe and Nuan Thip and they located a few hundred metres away from each other. From these piers are regular different ferries to several beaches on Koh Samet (see the section on the ferry above) From Bangkok to Ban Phe, buses leave Ekamai from 07.00 (04.40 on Mon. only) till 20.30, each 40 min. From Ban Phe to Bangkok, first bus from 04.00 and last bus 17.30. each 1 hour. Buses from Bangkok bus terminal "Mo Chit Bus Terminal" to Koh Samet are no direct link to Ban Phe pier. However, you can take a bus to Rayong for a low money and then take songthaew (taxi) for about 30 Baht to Ban Phe pier, which is located only few kilometres away.

Shuttle bus service between Koh Chang and Koh Samet

There are buses from Ban Phe every hour until 20:00 directly to Ao Thammachat ferry terminal at Trat, the mainland inside the Koh Chang. The ticket you buy easily on the bus station at Ban Phe pier and it costs about 300 Baht. The trip down to Koh Chang takes about 3 hours. The reverse applies if you are travelling by bus from Ko Chang to Koh Samet.

Shuttle bus service between Pattaya and Koh Samet

From Pattaya get to Koh Samet very easy. Buy a tour to one way. Price 200 THB, 150 minivan + 50 ferry + ticket for enterin Koh Samet (as national park). Usually from Pattaya you will get to the beach Ao Wong Duen.

There are regular buses between Ban Phe pier bus station and the Pattaya bus station. It runs daily every hour until 20:00. The price is around 120 Baht. Thus, it is no problem to smooth the way between Pattaya and Koh Samet

Drive a car & car rental between Bangkok and Koh Samet

Thailand usually have a good and extensive road network, and this also applies to the route Bangkok - Koh Samet. All you need to do if you are driving a rental car from Bangkok to Koh Samet is to run the Sukhumvit highway Rd (Highway No. 3) moreover, in the past Chonburi, Si Racha, Pattaya, Sattahip and towards Rayong. The route Bangkok - Rayong is 220km. Watch out for the police on this route only, they like to stop motorists for no reason on their "police checkpoint". Koh Samet island has no airport and the nearest U-Tapao airport is located in Pattaya further north on the mainland. Bangkok Airways usually run in the high season flights between Phuket and Koh Samui to Pattaya's U-Tapao Airport. Some flights from Bangkok is not possible.

You see them when you get to Ban Phe pier and it is seldom you need to book before. Speedboat prices can vary between 600 Baht to get to Na Dan pier on Koh Samet (diamond beach) up to a few thousand Baht to get to the southern part of Koh Samet. It is fast but also costs a bit more.
