Ao Plai Laem beach is located on southwest coast of Koh Phangan not far from Thong Sala town, in the basis of Khao Hin Nok granite mountain that is dominating and creating a fantastic landscape with most of the area still undeveloped.
Featuring a short white-sand beaches fringed with shady greenery and lined by clear blue waters, Ao Play Laem is especially popular with those looking to romantic stay close to the Thongsala’s best-known restaurants, markets and bars.
The main road with a few eateries, cafes and local shops is stretched in 50 meters from the shore. When relax on the beach you can overlook the two islands Koh Tae Nok and Koh Tae Noi and even as far as Ang Thong Marine National Park when the air is clear. |

Getting there |
A very pretty Ao Plai (Plaay) Laem is located between Ao Wok Tum and Ao Nai Wok beaches only 5 min drive from Thon Sala port. Many of hotels in Plai laem provide a free pick-up service from/to Thong Sala pier.
Otherwise taxi fare should be 100 baht/per one way. Around the beach you also can rent a motorbike or car.

Ao Plai Laem Beach Facilities |
You'll find the facilities including beach umbrellas, showers, toilets, chairs and sunbeds for use by their guests in the many resorts, bars and beachfront restaurants line Ao Plai Laem.
In the far south part of the beach there're a few restaurants and bars that have some sunbeds, and sells snacks and drinks. The rest of Plai Laem beach is mostly devoid of sunbeds.

Ao Play Laem Beach Activities & Watersports |
September to April some good snorkeling can be found by the rocks at the north end of Ao Plai Laem and around the big offshore coral reef that lies about 80 metres away and features corals and marine life for snorkelling enthusiasts, equipment can be rented on the beach.
Scuba diving can be arranged by the dive shop on the main road or in Thong Sala town.
High Tide season also is perfect time for swimming and kayaking. You can go by kayak to Koh Tae Nai for exploring. It's a small island southwest of the beach with good snorkeling around. During April to September swimming is not always possible due to generally low tides at daytime.
From December to March Ao Play Laem is the ideal for wind-serf, kitesurfing and sailing spot. The equipment and watersport facility are available for hire by the hour.
Kupu Kupu Phangan is the proud owner of a traditional fishing boat. Depending on the weather conditions, they offer 4 types of tour: snorkeling boat tour, sunset lover cruise, phangan discovery cruise and a trip to Angthong Marine Park. All the trips are including food and drinks, snorkeling equipment and towel.
