 Anyone who has ever travel to Koh Chang island, necessarily visited Bang Bao fishing village. Probably her ideal is the name of an old - fashioned traditional Thai fishing village. However, diving school, cute souvenir shops, seafood restaurants and 7/11 minimart largely became the main sources of income for local residents and replaced the fish.
But the islanders did not stop and went further offering for sale inexperienced immigrants willing to pay several million bath - their homes on stilts in Bang Bao bay. |

 How to Get to Bang Bao bay
|
 Bang Bao bay lies at the southwestern end of Koh Chang island. You can get here by taxi from Dan-Kao-Pier or Centerpoint pier for an hour. The price per trip 200 Bath/pers.
In Bang Bao you can reach if you travel by ferry from Koh Kood island or Koh Mak island.

 Around the pier still parking a few fishing boats that are actually used for fishing, not for snorkelling tours. At the end of the pier you can observe the sort of shrimp and squid. And since so far as their benefits are quite high, in fact all the seafood caught around Koh Chang are exported. Very little of the catch goes to local restaurants Bangbao village, because the owners of the latter prefer to buy seafood at wholesalers elsewhere on the island or at the fish markets located on the mainland where prices are not so high. Still, you will find that many people do not stay long in Bangbao, keeping in mind that to open the business is not profitable.
But a view from the pier is quite impressive, panoramic views of the village, mountains, bay and outlying islands. So this place is well worth a visit, especially for photographers. After you browse the souvenir shops filled with shells and buy t-shirts 'made in China'. If your budget does not eat seafood, visit one of the many eateries  that begin to grow along the pier, but if you travel by purchasing a tour as part of water activities, to the extent possible, choose a seafood restaurant.
There are few main offices diving schools on the pier and if you are interested in diving and are faced with the choice of the instructor, these are some of the best - The Dive Adventure, BB Divers, Ploy Scuba and Scubadive Thailand. Be sure the price they were clean and not very different from the average for the island. At 09.00 and 17.00, there are plenty of people go diving, snorkelling or for excursions to nearby islands, or just take a ride on the pleasure boats, as well as in the weekends, when the vans with Thais come to dinner. |

Bang Bao village Attractions |
 If walking along the Bang Bao pier you are tired from shopping or the bustle of travelers heading to day snorkeling tours look at local Wat Bang Bao. The temple is located at the main road turn to Ban Bao fishing village. This is the main Buddhist centre and school in Bang Bao highly revered by the locals. Expect to see the Phra ubosot (main building), some of the chedis, several outdoor Buddha images and a few kuties where the monks live. |

 From activities you can choose: walking around the many stores and shops along the pier, getting massages, tours around the nearby Islands, snorkelling and diving. You can also rent a bike and go further east, along the southern coast of the island. Here is what to look beautiful beaches, viewpoints, Wat Bang Bao temple, coconut plantations and local fishing villages.
From Bang Bao pier daily start many boats and ferries to Koh Mak island, Koh Wai island and Koh Kood island.

 If you by a twist of fate ended up in Bang Bao bay be sure to visit one of the many fish restaurants along the long pier. A huge selection of seafood, from shrimp and tiny shells and ending with a delicious lobster and oysters, which are always fresh.
If you doubt the quality of the goods, many restaurants have a huge aquariums that swim and crawl, ingredients your future food - you just need to come and poke your finger in favourite instance, then buy a cold beer and enjoy the cool breezes on the veranda of the restaurant, enjoying the sea views....

 Over the past few years Bang Bao pier covered with stores and souvenir shops, like the bottom of a ship seashells.
Here you can find almost everything that belongs to the sea theme: gifts, jewelry, jewelry for costumes created from shells, stuffed exotic tropical fish, ship models, clothing, wood and bamboo, straw hats, a large selection of chinese goods, sunglasses, cosmetics, souvenirs, swords, sabers, pistols... and even mobile ashtray!!!

 The only inconvenience arising from time to time to visit the bay, besides if you don't have your own transport is its remoteness. The alternative can serve as regular taxi, from time to time plying in Bangbao. You can walk from Lonely beach. But a 4 km walk in the heat, even on mountain serpentine you will find 40 km, and as a result of this hike, you can get a sunstroke. During high season, you need at least 400 Bath to convince the driver to take a few people from Kai Bae or Klong Prao to Bangbao and back. But another time you will be able to get there and back without experiencing great difficulty in finding transport.
Before you reach the road turn to Bangbao, head to look at a luxury Nirvana resort located a few minutes drive along the road, bungalows with tiled roofs, which are perfectly visible from Bangbao pier, and also Cliff Beach Cottages (huts, as if embracing the slope). Follow along and finds Remark Puzi Bungalows, they are not much more than the usual wooden tourist huts, the only difference is that the owners have found the power to change the landscape by planting a garden and creating a small tropical park.
A few hundred meters further north, a new environmentally correct on all sides resort consists of 15 villas, luxury design was developed by a German. The Edge Village not hard to find, 10 min relaxing stroll from the pier. Go forth, past the Cliff Cottages and Nirvana and hit a small Homestay beach resort. It offers a wonderful view of the bay, the hills inside the islands and mountains. The bungalows offer for 500 Вath/night, or you can negotiate an even cheaper if you take diving lessons at Scubadive in Thailand near the pier, the school is located at the end of Bangbao.
If you plan to stay in Bangbao for a few days to explore the bay area, you will of course need to rent a motorbike. As soon as the Bang Bao became uninteresting, hop on a motorbike and head along the coast to the east, about a mile and soon you will find yourself in Klong Koi Beach. Public transport to this beach walks rare, so expect to go from Bangbao bay by foot, if you haven't got a motorbike or scooter.
 Between Bangbao bay and Klong Kloi Beach is Tranquility Bay Residence, condo with fully equipped and ready for sale villas for the price of 7 million bath and above, built in an ideal location for those buyers who like to enjoy excellent sea views and is looking for an alternative to the hectic Samui or Phuket.
