 Ao Sri Thanu beach offering unrivalled seaside escape is located on Koh Phangan west coast between Haad Chao Phao and Hin Kong beach. Baan Srithanu fishing village maintains most of its charm and offers You a chance to see what the island was previously, before becoming a big tourist destination.
Sri Thanu has many interesting places worth your visit, including Laem Son lake. The village is a small and quiet settlement with a small fishing port filled with squid fishing boats, compared to other more developed areas of the island features the true Thai life and has a good selection of shops, restaurants, bars and other services.
The beach is bounded on both sides Laem Son tip and Laem Srithanu cape. From the main road the beach is separated by a narrow rivulet which fed the nearby Laem Son Lake in the Northern end of Srithanu and flows into the sea near the southern end of the beach where the pretty fishing port filled with fishing boats. There are four bridges across the river and one road to reach the beach of Sri Thanu village. Spacious beach covered with white sand and largely devoid of vegetation to hide from the scorching rays of the sun. The central part of the beach is wide enough to open the island championship in football or volleyball. Hotels sit in the depths and some of the bungalows right on the beach. Several restaurants and bars are part of resorts that make up the return part of Sri Thanu beach. Ao Sri Thanu area has a good range of accomodation with beachfront bungalows and budget resorts. |

 Getting There
|
 You will have no problem finding a taxi in Thong Sala to take you to Ao Sri Thanu beach. Alternative many of hotels in Srithanu offer a free pick-up service from/to Thong Sala pier. Otherwise taxi fare should be 150 baht/per one way. Around Srithanu you also can rent a motorbike or car.
There are two ways to ride Srithanu beach:
- from Thonsala along Koh Phangan west coast. This way is slightly tiresome;
- the road starts from Thong Sala's Tesco Lotus. Follow the road and turn left at T-intersection to Sri Thanu village. This easy way is the more free traffic. |

Sri Thanu Beach Facilities |
 Sunbeds, hammocks and beach chairs are available in a few beachfront resorts and bars. In the same places, including restaurants can be found toilets usually allow you to use it for a small fee (if you are not guest). There are a some trees at the northern end of the beach provide a shady spot for relax.
There are ATMs, money exchange, 7-eleven, laundry service and tours/ticket operators in Baan Srithanu village.

 In addition to several beach restaurants and bars where you can dine with your bare feet in the sand, Baan Sri Thanu village is the main source of food and drink a short walk away. Here you will find a large selection of restaurants serving international, Italian, seafood, Mexican and of course Thai food at reasonable prices.
There is fresh market with food stalls in the village. Many food vendors usually gather along the roadside to prepare all the classic Thai dishes, sweets, drinks and local fruits.

 There's not too much happening on Sri Thanu beach although swimming during all year and snorkeling is available. Sunbathing and reading a good book are the most popular activities here. A some good snorkeling can be found around coral reef is located approximately 100 metres from the sandy beach, sometimes seemingly deserted. Renting a longtail boat for fishing squid is a very nice way to spend the afternoon.

Next to Phangan Cove Resort you'll find Dive Inn shop offerin to Open Water PADI courses - 9800 Batn or Discover Scuba Diving - 2300 Bath.
A handful salas (open sided pavilion or roof on stilts) has been built at the few places of the beach, for a local masseuses to ply their  trade. A Thai massage costs around 300 baht/hour, other kinds of massage and reflexology are also available in Srithanu village. Mandala Spa next door to Fellini restaurant is place where you can enjoy massages ranging from foot reflexology massages to head and shoulders massage to a full treatment such as a body wrap to bring out the healthy you.
Lake Hut restaurant, with lakeside location offers a fun water activities at the northern end the village. Phangan Wipeout is place to enjoy cooling off in the waters, before trying your luck at completing the complex obstacle water course.
If you want to learn Thai culture head to C&M Study Center that provides Thai language, Thai cooking, handicraft, traditions and Thai  Massage classes. The C&M is located in the south part of Sri Thanu village.
Agama Yoga on eastern part of the village offers a daily yoga classes for those wishing to reach the highest goal of Yoga and spirituality: Enlightenment. A colourful Wat Sri Thanu temple on surburb of the village is good attractions in the area.

 Sri Thanu area with a very laid back vibe has traditional Thai style bungalows right on the beach and some hotes sit back from the beach. The beach is bounded on both sides by sandy tips Sri Thanu and Laem Son. Right after Laem Son starts wide strip of white sand that remains as wide even during high tides. The rich marine life you can find around coral reef is located about 50 m away from the beach. In Ao Srithanu beach you can always find lots of cheap accomodation and good places to stay for any length of time.
